3 Easy New Year’s Eve Hairstyles For Curly Hair

Below, celebrity hairstylist, Ursula Stephen shares her tips for creating three head-turning looks every curly girl can achieve at home.

Stephen, who’s teased out the most famous tresses in Hollywood, knows a thing or two about creating party-ready hair. 1)      Add Volume to Your Wash and Go

“For the holiday season, why not take our favorite low maintenance hairstyle – a simple wash and go up a notch by adding volume to your curls,” says Stephen. 

Step 1: Wash your hair with conditioner and detangle it with a brush which will help to remove tangles and shed hairs that can cause matting, and ultimately, breakage.

Step 2:  After rinsing out the conditioner, I recommend using Suave Professionals for Natural Hair Nourish & Strengthen Leave-In Conditioner to help bring your curls to life. You can also use a little gel to lock in the moisture and curl

Step 3: Part your hair of to the side to give your hair tons of volume. Afterwards dry your hair with a with a diffuser which will give you bouncy curls with lots of definition.

Step 4: Finish off the look with a touch of edge control to spice up your edges.

2)      The Skyhigh Ponytail 

If you have only ten minutes to get prepared, Stephen suggests trying a traditional ponytail. ” [It] will have you looking party ready in no time. I suggest pushing the hair more towards your face to give off a chic holiday style. It’ll literally take you 4 simple steps to create this magically look.” 

Step 1: Rejuvenate your curls by lightly spraying your hair with water.

Step 2: Prep your hair Suave Professionals for Natural Hair Curl Defining Cream by rubbing a smidgen between your palms, and apply to hair for add some moisture and enhance the shine of your curls.

Step 3: Raise your hair up as high as you can and brush the back and sides for a tidier look.

Step 4: Use a chic scrunchie to lock your hair in place and use a stylish hair accessory to bring the look together.

3)      The Funky Fo-Hawk

“If you are looking to do something edgy this season this is a perfect hairstyle,” says Stephen. “Not only is it very festive and fun, it can be daring and provocative allowing you to spice things up this holiday season.”

Step 1: After cleaning your hair, gather a section of hair on the side of head. Push it upwards from underneath. Use bobby pin to secure strands flat against the head.

Step 2: Working towards the nape, keep smoothing hair up and pinning into place. Lock pins so they connect in a chain and repeat on the other side of the head.

Step 3: Use bobby pins to secure any longer strands that may be falling out.

Step 4: Slick an edge-control gel along the sides of your head to make sure your edges stays sleek.

Step 5: Finish a holding spray of your choice. You can also use a hair pick to add extra volume.
