Jackson State pauses football activities due to COVID-19

Jackson State football has been forced to temporarily pause all football activities due to COVID-19.

As first reported by the Clarion-Ledger, the team halted activities because of a combination of “COVID-19 and contact tracing.”

Jackson State started preparing for the upcoming spring season earlier this month.

The program has not been the only HBCU football team to be impacted by COVID-19. Alabama State head coach recently Donald Hill-Eley tested positive for the virus and is expected to miss preseason camp.

In November, South Carolina State paused activities due to positive tests within its program.

Jackson State is scheduled to open the regular season on Feb. 21 versus Edward Waters.
