Former Dallas Cowboys stars Troy Aikman, Nate Newton visit Deion Sanders ahead of coaching debut

While Sunday might have concluded on somewhat of a sour note for Jackson State head coach Deion Sanders, the day started on a surprisingly high one in his collegiate debut.

Sanders was visited by former Dallas Cowboys Hall of Fame quarterback Troy Aikman prior to kickoff.

The two hugged on the field during pregame warm-ups ahead of Jackson State’s season opener versus Edward Waters.

Aikman and Sanders were teammates in Dallas in the mid-90s, winning the Super Bowl together in 1996.

Also appearing at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium to support Sanders was longtime friend Nate Newton.

“I couldn’t be more proud of Deion and him being at Jackson State and what he’s going to do for this program,” Aikman said. “I think he’s going to do terrific.”
