Change is on the horizon at Grambling State.
A day after the Tigers were only able to muster 10 points in a loss to Prairie View in Saturday’s State Fair Classic, offensive coordinator Mark Orlando has reportedly stepped down.
The news was reported by the Monroe News-Star and confirmed by HBCU Sports.
“With the team playing in the spring like this, they’ve got four games left to get things going,” Orlando said. “I just thought this was in the best interest of Grambling State and myself. “(Grambling coach Broderick) Fobbs deserves a better performance from his offensive coordinator. I love coach Fobbs and I love Grambling.”
Fobbs hasn’t announced who will take over for Orlando who has more than 40 years of coaching experience.
Prior to Grambling State, Orlando had stints at Alabama State, Prairie View, Tennessee State, Bethune-Cookman, Southern, Texas Southern and Winston Salem State.
The Grambling head coach expressed disappointment in the team’s performance and its 0-2 start to the spring season.

“There have been times where we haven’t played well, and there have been times where we played well and had mistakes, but there is no excuse for playing without passion,” said Fobbs said after the 17-10 defeat to Praire View. “We have to figure it out quickly because this league is too good for us to just go through the motions.”
