Bluefield State begins return to college football with release of 2021 fall schedule

BLUEFIELD, WV – Bluefield State took another step in its return to college football with the release of the team’s 2021 fall schedule.

The eight-game schedule kicks off for the first time since 1980 when the team takes on Lawrence Tech at Mitchell Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 4.

Bluefield State will begin a two-game road trip against two HBCU opponents when they play at Elizabeth City State on Sept. 11 and Johnson C. Smith on Sept. 18.

After a bye week, Bluefield State football will host UNC-Greensboro on Oct. 2 at Mitchell Stadium before its homecoming game on Oct. 9 against City College of Fort Lauderdale.

The remaining three games are scheduled for Oct. 16 at Erskine College, Oct. 30 at Barton College and Nov. 13 at home against St. Anslem.

“I am very proud of the work my staff put in to get this schedule done,” head coach Tony Coaxum said in a statement. “They did a great job and we are excited to give out to the community a clear vision that Bluefield State football is back.”
