The comedic drama Good Girls was a breakout hit on Netflix after its seasons hit the streaming giant after airing on NBC. However, the show’s ratings on NBC, especially as of recent, haven’t been as stellar. Because of this, the show is on the bubble for cancellation or renewal.
TV Line reports that “although NBC is set to unveil its 2021-22 schedule on Friday,” a source tells the publication that “a decision on Good Girls‘ fate will not be made until later this month.”
In an effort to fight for the show’s renewal, star Mae Whitman urged her Instagram followers to rally behind Good Girls. “We would like very much to not get canceled,” she wrote on Instagram Stories, per the publication. “Apparently, we are on the bubble — which means [NBC’s] considering not bringing us back [for Season 5].”
“Let NBC and Netflix know how much you love us,” she continued before closing. “Thank you Good Girls Army. I love you.”
Whitman continued Thursday on her Instagram with a photo of herself in a folding lawn chair with the tag #RenewGoodGirls.
The series, which also stars Christina Hendricks and Retta, chronicles the lives of three suburban mothers who grew tired of trying to make ends meet. At their wits’ end with trying to salvage, the trio decides to pull off a supermarket heist. Although successful, the trio soon finds themselves in a bind when the supermarket manager recognizes one of the women.
The show is written and executive produced by Jenna Bans and also stars Reno Wilson (Mike & Molly), Manny Montana, Lidya Jewett, Isaiah Stannard and Matthew Lillard. Megan Thee Stallion appeared on Good Girls in season 3 at a guest star.
