North Carolina A&T lone HBCU ranked in FCS Stats Perform poll

Only one HBCU FCS program was found in the 2021 Stats Perform top 25 poll released on Monday.

North Carolina A&T is at No. 25 in the latest poll. The Aggies were one of several programs across the country that did not participate in the 2020 fall or spring 2021 seasons because of COVID-19 concerns.

NC A&T, however, was ranked No.1 in the HBCU Sports Ultimate Top 25 Preseason Poll released last month.

The last time Aggies were on the field, the group won the MEAC championship, Celebration Bowl and were crowned Black College Football National Champion. Now in the Big South, North Carolina A&T was picked third in the conference preseason rankings.

The other HBCUs to receive votes in the poll were defending SWAC champion Alabama A&M, Alcorn State, Florida A&M and 2021 MEAC favorite South Carolina State.
