One-armed high school hoops sensation gets offer from Tennessee State

Hansel Emmanuel had been one of the most viewed high school basketball online in recent months.

His dazzling performances on the AAU circuit made waves on social media. But despite becoming an internet sensation, Emmanuel had yet to receive a single college offer due in large part to having just one fully functional arm.

“Blessed to receive my first D1 offer from Tennessee State University,” he posted on social media Thursday.

At the age of six, the Dominican Republic-born hoops star lost his left arm when a wall came down on him and trapped him for two hours, requiring amputation below the shoulder. But despite his life-altering injuries that forced him to give up baseball, Emmanuel saw it as a blessing.
