Howard lands former three-star Big Ten transfer Marcus Dockery

Howard just added what it hopes is a key piece to the roster out of the transfer portal.

On Wednesday, former Maryland Terrapins guard Marcus Dockery announced he will be transitioning to his hometown school.

The D.C. native entered the college ranks as a three-star recruit and the sixth highest-ranked player in the 2020 Washington D.C. recruiting class. He received offers from the likes of Michigan, Rhode Island, La Salle, Cincinnati and Seton Hall before ultimately committing to play for Maryland.

Dockery led Brewster Academy High School to the National Prep championship on a team that also featured Kentucky guard Terrence Clarke.

Dockery played 22 total games in two seasons with the Terrapins in limited minutes, averaging just 1.5 points.

This move is huge for a Howard team that is coming off a season in which they finished with a 16-13 record, marking the first time they have finished above .500 overall since 2002.

With the addition of Dockery, Howard now has a new dynamic backcourt mate to pair with MEAC Rookie of the Year Elijah Hawkins.
