Skye P. Marshall To Star In ‘Matlock’ Reboot Pilot At CBS

Skye P. Marshall is joining the ‘Matlock‘ reboot pilot cast at CBS.

Marshall has been cast to lead opposite Kathy Bates, per Deadline. The series hails from Jennie Snyder Urman, creator of Jane the Virgin, and NCIS: Los Angeles‘ Eric Christian Olsen. Urman will write with Kat Coiro directing.

Marshall will play a character named Olympia, described as a “formidable attorney with a thirst for justice” and as a “key rainmaker at New York’s most prestigious law firm.”

“Juggling work and life, she remains laser-focused and not the easiest to impress, wihich is apparent when she is tasked to oversee a third junior associate,” according to the description.

Bates will play Madeline Matlock, a female version of the character Andy Griffith originated in the original 1980s legal drama. Bates’ Matlock is described as a “brilliant septuagenarian” who “rejoins the workforce at a prestigious law firm where she uses her unassuming demeanor and wily tactics to win cases and expose corruption from within.”

This won’t be Marshall’s only CBS series; she is currently starring in a recurring role on CBS cop drama East New York. She also recently starred in the CBS medical drama Good Sam, which lasted one season. She can also be seen in the film To Live And Die And Live, directed by Qasim Basir. Basir’s film recently premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.
