'Affordable' Housing in Harlem Costs More Than $2,300 a Month

*Harlem’s newest “affordable” housing costs more than $2,300 a month, requires a minimum income of $80,000, and lacks bedrooms.

According to the listing on the new NYC Housing Connect, applicants earning 125 percent of Area Median Income can apply for residency at the five-studio apartment building at 251 West 117th St, costing $2,311 a month.

Single New Yorkers must earn between $79,235 and $128,570 a year to qualify while couples who want to split a studio must earn a combined $146,900 a year, Patch.com reports.

The amenities include an in-unit dishwasher, a gym, a rooftop terrace, a virtual doorman, laundry, and bike storage. The building is also pet friendly and boasts a business center and children’s playroom.
