Jackson State offensive coordinator Maurice Harris leaves for Auburn

Jackson State offensive coordinator Maurice Harris is expected to accept a position as an offensive analyst at Auburn

The news was first reported by Zach McKinnell of The Bluebloods.

Harris joined Jackson State as its offensive coordinator before the 2023 season, leading the team to one of the top-ranked offenses in the SWAC and second-ranked pass offense.

He joined the team from Liberty, serving on current Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze’s coaching staff for four seasons.

In that time, the team ranked in the top 35 in scoring in three of his four seasons, including a 2020 season in which they ranked 16th.

In addition to Liberty, Harris has served on Ole Miss and Arkansas State’s coaching staff, with the common denominator being Freeze as the head coach.

The Tigers’ offensive coordinator is not Jackson State’s only connection to Auburn, as former wide receiver Shane Hooks transferred to the school last season.
