Bluefield State All-CIAA guard enters transfer portal

The Bluefield State Big Blue basketball team could be taking a big hit as All-CIAA guard Jordan Hinds has announced he is entering the transfer portal.

In his three years with Bluefield State, Hinds put up 16.6 points on 49% shooting from the field, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.8 steals in 79 career games.

The Big Blue star was named to the USCAA All-American second team in his first two seasons with Bluefield State.

In the team’s first year in the CIAA this past season, Hinds scored 19.0 points, adding 6.1 rebounds and 2.2 steals. He shot 45% from the field and 85% from the free-throw line, being named to the All-CIAA team.

He set the tone in the team’s season opener against Clarion, posting 26 points on 52% shooting, nine rebounds, and eight steals.

Despite the team finishing last in the CIAA Northern division, Hinds helped lead the Big Blue to two wins in the CIAA tournament, including an upset victory over reigning champion Winston-Salem State.

The All-CIAA selection produced 16 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, two steals, and two blocks against the Rams.
