Big changes coming in basketball and football for the SWAC. Here’s what to expect

The annual Southwestern Athletic Conference Council of Presidents and Chancellors’ spring meeting yielded some interesting changes to be implemented during the next year.

The SWAC men’s and women’s basketball tournaments will expand from eight to 10 qualifying teams in 2025, and all 12 schools will be able to participate in the 2026 tournament.

A new basketball schedule is also in place for next season, with the women playing on Thursdays and Saturdays and the men playing on Saturdays and Mondays.
