*Jay-Z‘s 40/40 Club has reopened to the beat of a different event. The reopening was among the highlights for Fanatics Fest NYC 2024. The annual event, which is taking place August 16-18 at New York City’s Javits Center, is noted for giving festival goers a chance to meet sports idols live as well as hunt for coveted cards and memorabilia, in addition to offering simulated experiences like the NFL 40-yard dash and MLB home-run derby.

The reimagined 40/40 Club, described as “meticulously crafted to capture the essence of its legendary status,” will provide sports fans an experience combining the present with shades of its former glory.

On deck for the establishment are framed jerseys, opulent chandeliers, and stadium seating. Small bites inspired by the club’s original menu will be available for sports fans in premium beverages will be available to a select list of VIPs that include athletes, celebrities, and Fanatics Sportsbook clients. All with the promise of evoking “the allure that made the original 40/40 Club a favorite among A-listers.”

News of the 40/40 Club’s reemergence comes years after its flagship NYC location shut its doors in August 2023 after opening in 2003 as an upscale sports bar and lounge.

The Jay-Z owned hot spot’s status was elevated over the years via references made to it in the rapper’s music, most notably in the 2003 hit “Dirt Off Your Shoulder.”

“Now you chillin’ with a boss, bitch, of course, SC on the sleeve / at the 40/40 club ESPN on the screen,” Jay-Z rhymed on the Timbaland-produced single.

During its run, the 40/40 Club generated a buzz with live music, celebrity patrons, and sports memorabilia. In addition to its NYC location, the hot spot expanded, bringing its vibe to branches in Atlantic City, Las Vegas, the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, and Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

This year’s Fanatics Fest is attracting a roster of sports legends comprised of Tom Brady, Derek Jeter, Kevin Durant, Peyton and Eli Manning, and Carmelo Anthony.
