Southern to change QB1 ahead of Jackson State showdown

The Zae Teasett experience is about to happen at Southern.

Jaguars head coach Terrence Graves announced on Tuesday that the hometown kid will start Saturday at Jackson State.

Teasett, a redshirt freshman from Baton Rouge, carved up the Savannah State defense last weekend, completing 17 of 29 passes for 316 yards and three touchdowns in the Jaguars’ 42-10 win.

“Any time you get game experience, each time for a competitor, it’s going to get better,” Graves told The Advocate after Saturday’s game. “Going from high school to college, the speed of the game is faster. The game is starting to slow down for him.”

Grambling transfer Noah Bodden came into the season as the starting quarterback but has struggled, completing just 44 percent of passes with no touchdowns thrown and two interceptions in games against McNeese and Savannah State.

“By no stretch of the imagination are we giving up on Noah Bodden. It’s a long season. We have a lot of football left to play,” said Graves.
