Woman Seen in Viral Video Who Pepper-sprayed Teens At SoCal Taco Bell Has Been Identified & Charged w/Felony Assault | WATCH

*Earlier we posted a viral video of a violent altercation on September 11 between an adult African American woman and a group of Carson High School students at a Taco Bell location in Carson (in Southern California).

The confrontation escalated after the woman’s daughter reportedly engaged in a dispute with one of the students, prompting the mother to intervene with pepper spray.

As you can imagine, the girls who were attacked and their families are demanding she be held to the full extent of the law.  As we pointed out at the time, the woman was not arrested because her identification was not known.

Well, that was then.  Today, according to Najee Ali Director of Project Islamic Hope, who is acting as a family advocate, we learned the woman’s identity has been revealed by the LA County DA‘s office. But wait. There’s more. Nicole Coleman is also looking at a felony assault charge.

Per Pamela J. Johnson, Public Information Specialist, Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office:

Nicole Coleman (dob 07/27/1988) of Carson was charged today with one felony count of assault with a deadly weapon. She’s also charged with one count of use of tear gas, and three counts of child abuse under conditions other than great bodily harm or death, all misdemeanors. Her arraignment was set for today, Dept. 12 of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Compton Branch.

Ali acknowledged that the students might have provoked the altercation, he emphasized that the responsible course of action would have been for the woman to contact the authorities to handle the situation instead of taking matters into her own hands.

“The video of a grown woman pepper spraying and assaulting students was horrific. No adult should ever attack a child.”
