Mike Tyson Reveals Legendary Boxing Promoter Don King Had to be Hospitalized Amid Health Concerns | WATCH

*Legendary boxing promoter Don King, known for his flamboyant personality and significant influence in the sport, is currently facing health challenges that have led to a recent hospitalization. King spent over a week receiving treatment at a local facility, a rough patch that highlights his ongoing health struggles.

The 93-year-old promoter’s condition was first revealed by former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson during an interview on the “It Is What It Is” podcast with Cam’ron and Mase.

“Don is not doing well right now,” Tyson shared on Friday. “He’s probably close to 100 years old, he’s not doing well.”

Disturbingly, sources close to King indicated that he has faced severe health issues, including a 10-day stint in the hospital that required a blood transfusion. According to reports, King is now recovering at home, reports TMZ Sports.

The relationship between Tyson and King has been fraught with tension over the years, particularly stemming from past legal disputes. In 1998, Tyson famously sued King for $100 and ended up settling for $14 million, leading Tyson to sever ties with King in the early 2000s. Yet, during the recent interview, Tyson reflected on their tumultuous history as a learning experience.

“I believe Don King pretty much educated me,” Tyson said, looking back on the financial stakes involved in their partnership. “That will never happen again.”

This sentiment echoes the dualities of King’s legacy—steeped in both significant achievements and controversies throughout his career.

Born on August 20, 1931, in Cleveland, Ohio, Don King’s ascent in the boxing world is as remarkable as it is complicated. Raised in a financially disadvantaged environment, King’s early life was marked by hardships and tumult, including a prison sentence for manslaughter in the 1960s.

He later redirected his energy into boxing, gaining prominence for promoting legendary fighters like Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier. His pivotal moment came in the 1970s with the organization of events like the “Rumble in the Jungle.”

Over decades, King has worked alongside some of the most famous names in boxing, including Evander Holyfield and Lennox Lewis, famed for his ability to generate blockbuster fights. However, his career hasn’t been free from controversy. Throughout the years, he has faced numerous allegations of fraud, corruption, and financial mismanagement, leading to a polarizing reputation within the boxing community.

As Don King recovers from his recent health scare, the reflections of Mike Tyson, who has been through the highs and lows of their partnership, serve as a reminder of both the lessons learned and the complex tapestry of King’s life and career in boxing. With a legacy that intertwines success and scandal, Don King remains a captivating figure in the annals of sports history.
