*The Miami Heat unveiled an 8-foot bronze statue honoring Dwyane Wade’s NBA legacy but the monument is facing backlash from fans who feel it misses the mark.
Wade attended the ceremony on Sunday (Oct. 27), outside of Kaseya Center Wade, where he was joined by his family and several of his former teammates. Per ABC News, the statue depicts his “This is my house” moment following a game-winning double-overtime shot against the Chicago Bulls in 2019.
“I was just like, ‘That’s beautiful,” Wade, who spent 13 seasons with the Miami Heat, said of the statue during a news conference, according to the Miami Herald. “I’m biased, but I think it’s one of the best statues that’s been created because of what it represents for us and for me.”
Wade’s immortalization received mixed reactions from many fans who don’t believe the statue looks like him. One person on X wrote, “Did the Heat even look at this statue before unveiling it???.”
Another added, “LMAO! If you look up the company who did this, there’s a 97% chance they had DEI hires involved.”
I am calling for a complete and total shutdown on building new statues until we figure out what the hell is going on https://t.co/QnNX6THB9O

A third said, “That statue is wild disrespectful. Whomever approved that needs to be fired.”
It appears that Wade personally approved the statue and was involved in its creation; images online show him posing with his bust during the early stages of its development.
Matt Walsh with The Daily Wire tweeted, “I am calling for a complete and total shutdown on building new statues until we figure out what the hell is going on.”
“So when is the unveiling of the actual WADE statue because that ain’t Wade… that’s someone else in a heat jersey,” one commenter wrote on Instagram, per ABC News.
“That does not look anything like Dwayne [sic] Wade. Heat get your money back,” another online critic commented.
“Bro fix the face PLEASE how do they get the other details right and mess up the face this hard,” one Wade fan added.
