*In a recent interview on The Pivot Podcast, former President Barack Obama discussed the “inappropriate” attention he often received from female admirers during his time in office.

Obama told podcast hosts, ex-NFL players Channing Crowder, Ryan Clark, and Fred Taylor, that he didn’t let the attention go to his head.

“When I got drafted in the NFL, I got a little cuter,” Crowder, a former Miami Dolphins linebacker, said while sharing his own experience with groupies. “Do women be hollering at you and stuff, like on the fact that, because you’re a good-looking dude, but now you’re ‘President Good Looking Dude,’” he asked.

“The truth is, you guys as NFL players and athletes generally … y’all get famous young, at a time when the attention that you’re talking about may be flattering, fun, what have you,” Obama said. “By the time people really knew who I was, I was 43 years old. I was married, had two kids, had gone grocery shopping, had washed my car. I was a regular guy in that sense.”

He added, “That kind of attention, by the time I got it, I was not tripping on it. There are times where women have acted in somewhat inappropriate ways. There are pictures on the internet of women grabbing my butt, and I was president at the time,” he said.

“My wife is such an extraordinary woman, such an amazing partner, that you just try to stay focused, stay on the straight and narrow,” Obama continued. “And also, look, kids change your life. The idea of disappointing your kids is something that, I ain’t going there.”

Obama married Michelle in 1992, and they share two daughters, Malia, 25, and 23-year-old Sasha. During the podcast interview, Barack revealed that his daughters are working to establish their careers independently of their famous last name. He commented on Malia crediting herself as “Malia Ann” in her 2023 directorial debut “The Heart,” which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year.

“Her first film went to Sundance and all these fancy film festivals and she didn’t use ‘Obama’ as a director on the credits,” Barack said. “I was all like, ‘You do know they’ll know who you are.’ And she’s all like, ‘You know what? I want them to watch it that first time and not in any way have that association,’” he explained.

“I think our daughters go out of their way to not try to leverage that,” he added.

“The challenge for us is letting us give them any help at all,” Obama said. “I mean they’re very sensitive about this stuff. They’re very stubborn about it.”
