21 Savage Announces ‘I Am > I Was’ Release Date

After much anticipation and mystery, 21 Savage has announced an official release date for his sophomore album I Am > I Was.

The long-awaited project is set to arrive Friday, Dec. 21. Taking to Instagram last week, Saint Laurent Don revealed the cover art and some fans suspected it would drop on Friday (Dec. 7), but he had other plans.

“Dam I forgot to drop my album my bad y’all,” he tweeted.

According to a press release, I Am > I Was is “more personal” and “more powerful” than Savage’s debut album, last year’s Issa Album, which opened at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and earned a gold certification.

To go along with the album, Savage has released a limited collection of apparel and accessories on his online shop. Additionally, a pop-up shop will open at DOM Gallery in Los Angeles for one day only on Dec. 16. Admission is free to the public.

21 Savage recently earned his first two Grammy nominations for Record of the Year and Best Rap/Sung Performance for his feature on Post Malone’s “rockstar.”
