Lizzo Sued for Defamation by Postmates Driver

Lizzo is facing legal action from a Postmates driver.

In the lawsuit, obtained by TMZ, Tiffany Wells says that the “Truth Hurts” hitmaker turned her life upside down when she blasted her on Twitter and claimed she stole her food while delivering an order to Lizzo’s Boston hotel in September.

“Hey @Postmates this girl Tiffany W. stole my food she lucky I don’t fight no more,” Lizzo tweeted to her near-million followers on Sept. 15 along with a photo of Wells.

Wells reportedly tried to contact Lizzo and even went to the hotel concierge to no avail. After waiting 10 minutes, she finally left.

Lizzo deleted the original tweet and later apologized to Wells. “I apologize for putting that girl on blast,” she wrote. “I understand I have a large following and that there were so many variables that could’ve put her in danger. Imma really be more responsible with my use of social media and check my petty and my pride at the door.”

Wells is now suing Lizzo for defamation and intentional infliction of emotional distress. She says she was afraid to leave her home and go to work after the incident. As a result, she no longer works for Postmates and claims she was subject to ridicule, humiliation, and stress.

Wells says Postmates sided with her, and she moved on to the next delivery like she was supposed to after she couldn’t reach Lizzo.
