11 people Shot On New Orleans’ Canal Street

 Eleven people were shot on Canal Street early Sunday morning as thousands were in town to watch the annual Bayou Classic, according to local news reports.

Gunfire broke out a 3:30 a.m. on the popular street. New Orleans police showed up to the scene of the incident quickly due to beefed up security surrounding the annual football game, NOPD Supt. Shaun Ferguson said.

Victims were immediately taken to different hospitals in the city.

New Orleans police is also confirming that two of the victims are in critical condition.

According to NOLA.com, a person of interest has been detained though little elseabout the person was shared.
