Texas Southern suspends 69th running of TSU Relays

Texas Southern University has suspended the 69th running of the TSU Relays due to the ongoing developments in the area surrounding the coronavirus (COVID-19).

The announcement follows the school’s move from this morning to operate classes following the Spring Break holiday in a remote format either online or by using an alternative option. In addition to the change of curriculum, TSU is postponing all large on-campus events through Saturday, April 4.

In addition to the relays, the USATF RunJumpThrow Clinic scheduled for Thursday, March 19, is also suspended.

The Southwestern Athletic Conference has also canceled this weekend’s SWAC Tournament in Birmingham, Ala. This weekend’s Texas Southern softball series at Alabama State has been postponed and baseball’s three-game series at UTRGV has been suspended.

The university and the Southwestern Athletic Conference are actively monitoring the fluidity of COVID-19 and will provide additional updates once available.
