Jaden Smith is putting the romance rumors to rest.
The rapper, 22, was spotted getting cozy with model Sofia Richie, 22, at the beach in Malibu over Labor Day weekend. According to E! Online, the two were seen holding hands and spending “all day” together.
But despite their beach rendezvous, there’s no budding romance between the longtime friends. In an interview with “On-Air With Ryan Seacrest,” Jaden set the record straight on his relationship with Scott Disick’s ex-girlfriend.
“You know, I actually don’t look at the internet, so I didn’t see that,” said the “Cabin Fever” singer. “Me and Sophia have been friends for like 10 years. We’ve been going to the beach pretty consistently for 10 years too.”
Added Jaden, “Yeah, we’re just homies and we love each other and it was fun.”
However, the two have been romantically involved in the past. They briefly dated in 2012 when they were both 14 years old and have remained friends since.
Jaden has been busy promoting his new album CTV3: Cool Tape Vol. 3, which he hopes will inspire others.
“I just hope that I can improve lives through the continuing of my music career and make people feel like there’s someone else out there who understands how they feel,” he said. “I want to speak for people out there who think they are weird or that they might not belong in any circles.”
