‘A Different World’ actor and stand-up comedian Sinbad is recovering from a recent stroke.
In a statement to The Associated Press, his family shared that “it is out of sincere love that we share Sinbad, our beloved husband and father, is recovering from a recent stroke.”
“Sinbad is a light source of love and joy for many generations,” the statement continued. “While he is beginning his road to recovery, we are faithful and optimistic that he will bring laughter into our hearts soon.”
Born David Adkins, the 64-year-old has been a household name since the 90s when he starred in A Different World as ‘Coach Walter Oakes’ to his several HBO comedy specials and even his own sitcom in 1993, The Sinbad Show.
Shortly following the announcement, Earth, Wind & Fire wished their “Brother Sinbad” well in a tweet:
