Alabama A&M QB Aqeel Glass selected to NFLPA Collegiate Bowl

In his quest to become the first HBCU quarterback to be selected in the NFL draft since Tavaris Jackson in 2006, Alabama A&M quarterback Aqeel Glass has been chosen to play in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.

He is one of four HBCU players who will take part in the game along with Florida A&M’s Markquese Bell, Jackson State’s James Houston and Cornell “CJ” Holmes. Howard transfer Jequez Ezzard and South Carolina State transfer Roderick Perry were also selected.

In 46 career games, Glass finished in the top 15 in FCS career passing yards (12,136) and tied for 11th in career passing touchdowns (109).

He led the SWAC in passing in each of his last three full seasons (excluding 2021 spring season). He was selected to the All-SWAC Second Team in 2018 and 2019 and the All-SWAC First Team in the 2021 spring and fall seasons.

In addition, Glass was named to the SWAC Offensive Player of the Year in each of the 2021 seasons and won the Deacon Jones trophy in the spring season.

This past season, he was selected to the FCS Stats Perform All-American third team becoming one of only six HBCU quarterbacks to achieve this feat.

Along with taking part in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl, Glass will also participate in the NFL HBCU Combine taking place on Jan. 28 and 29 as well as the HBCU Legacy Bowl taking place on Feb. 19.
