Alabama State-Arkansas-Pine Bluff tilt wiped out by storm

PINE BLUFF, Ark— One of the more anticipated games of the year was cut short due to inclement weather.

Saturday’s game between Arkansas-Pine and Alabama State was canceled and ruled a no-contest due to storms in the area.

The game was called in the second quarter with Alabama State leading 10-3 with 6:12 to play in the half. The initial game delay began at approximately 5:18 p.m. CST.

As the teams were set to begin warmups just after 7 p.m. another lightning strike occurred forcing both teams to leave the field.

The record for both teams — Alabama State (2-1) and Arkansas Pine-Bluff (2-0) — will remain intact. The contest will not be made up.
