Alabama State loses All-SWAC defensive back to transfer portal

Alabama State defensive back Irshaad Davis announced his intention to enter the transfer portal with one year of eligibility remaining.

In a Twitter post, the senior thanked Alabama State in a statement explaining his decision to leave the program.

“I would also like to thank the Alabama State community for giving me a  place to call home and for all the unbreakable bonds and relationships I have created throughout my time here,” Davis wrote. “To my coaches, faculty, staff, and last but not least my teammates. I thank y’all for embracing me and treating me as family, without you guys this journey would have not been as memorable as it was for me.”

The former All-SWAC team performer and AFCA Second Team All-American was second on the Hornets this past season with 65 total tackles and also recorded 4 tackles for loss, 6 pass breakups, and 1.5 sacks.
