Alcorn State’s Kirdis Clark named SWAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week




BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alcorn State’s junior guard Kirdis Clark has been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference’s Women’s Basketball Player of the Week after her impressive efforts over this past week of play.

The Natchez, Miss. native recorded a career-high 23 points and nine field goals in a come-from-behind victory at Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

Clark went 15-22 (.682) from the floor while averaging 19.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and an assist per game in the two road victories while helping the Lady Braves extend its win streak to three games.

Other notable performances:

Dayzsha Rogan (JSU) was a major factor why the Jackson State women’s basketball team is 6-0 in SWAC play; its best start in conference history. In the 81-79 win over Texas Southern, Rogan scored a career-high 24 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field. She also grabbed nine rebounds and recorded four steals. In the win over PVAMU, the 5-foot-3 guard grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds to go with six points.

Ciani Cryor (TSU) averaged 19.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 7.0 assists, and steals per game. She had 18 points, seven rebounds, 11 assists, and five steals in Texas Southern’s 89-85 road win over Grambling State Monday night.

Jayla Crawford (ASU) led Alabama State with 11 points in a loss to Alabama A&M over the weekend, the Lady Hornets only game of the. She scored all 11 of her points in the first half for Alabama State.
