A man has been charged with the murder of Alexis Crawford, the Clark Atlanta University student who was found dead in a park on Friday after she went missing a week ago.
Barron Brantley, 21, was booked on murder charges Friday. Authorities said they believe Brantley is responsible for Crawford’s death.
Crawford, one of ten children, was last seen by her family on Wed., Oct. 30 when she spoke with her mother and sisters via FaceTime. Her family reported her missing on Friday after she failed to show up for class or work.
According to authorities, Crawford’s roommate Jordyn Jones–who is also Brantley’s boyfriend—is also a suspect in her murder. One of the two suspects was able to lead the police to Crawford’s body.
CNN is also reporting that before Crawford’s death, she filed a police report describing unwanted kissing and touching days before she went missing.

She is said to have gone to Grady Memorial Hospital to file the report which alleged that Brantley sexually assaulted her. That report listed Jones as a witness.
“While a motive has not been clearly established, the department did take a police report from Alexis Crawford on October 27, and this is a few days prior to her being reported missing,”Atlanta Police Chief Erika Shields said. “In this report, Alexis described unwanted kissing and touching from Barron Brantley.”
Brantley has since been charged with Crawford’s murder, CNN reports. He waived his first court appearance on Saturday. His next hearing has been scheduled for Nov. 22.
He remains in the Fulton County Jail without bond, News 11 reports.
“The case has come to one of the saddest conclusions possible and has been absolutely heartbreaking,” Shields said.
