Bobby Shmurda Denied Parole, Will Remain in Prison Until 2021

Bobby Shmurda won’t be coming home this year.

The Brooklyn rapper has been denied parole after his hearing last week, according to TMZ. He will reportedly be held in custody until the very end of his max sentence, December 11, 2021.

While an exact reason was not given, the parole board’s decision may have been influenced by Shmurda’s behavior. He received 11 violations while behind bars, including drug possession, fighting, and having a shank.

He is serving time at New York’s Clinton Correctional Facility after pleading guilty to one count of third-degree conspiracy and one count of weapons possession in September 2016. He was initially sentenced to 6 to 7 years in prison in 2016 and has been in jail since December 2014.

Bobby’s mother, Leslie Pollard, was hopeful for her son’s early release. “We [are] very confident that things will go well, and as always we know God will see us through, he always does,” she told The Shade Room last month, while thanking his supporters.

“The industry as a whole has been supportive throughout this journey, and everyone has checked in at one time or another. We greatly appreciate the support,” she added.

Bobby was reportedly planning to release new music if granted parole. He is also producing a documentary about his life and hopes that it will inspire troubled youth.
