Braxton Sisters: Traci Wanted Us to Return to Reality TV | EURexclusiveWATCH

*The Braxton sisters are back, and this time, it’s a deeply emotional return as they face life without their beloved sister, Traci. In an interview with EUR, Towanda and Trina Braxton spoke candidly about the decision to return to reality TV with “The Braxtons” on WETV and the challenges of moving forward with the show in Traci’s absence.

Towanda was clear there was no hesitation when it came to the idea of continuing the series despite the void left by Traci.

“There was no question because this is what Traci wanted us to do,” Towanda shared. “During the time that Traci was transitioning, she wanted to tell her story. She wanted us to reboot it during the time that she was transitioning. So she was like, ‘okay, guys, I can’t do it, so y’all going to have to do it. And when y’all do it, you have to make sure you tell my story.”

She concluded: “This was, the fastest we’ve ever come together to say, yes, it didn’t take any time at all. We have to do it for Traci.”

For Trina, the decision was just as straightforward.

“I didn’t hesitate at all because, like Towanda said, it was something our sister asked us to do, and it was her wish,” Trina explained. However, she acknowledged the heavy emotional toll it took. “The only thing for me is I had gone through so much loss. You know, everything was just so heavy, but I could not tell my sister’s story.”

As the sisters continue to navigate their grief, they are determined to honor Traci’s memory in the most authentic way possible. Towanda emphasized the importance of showing Traci’s true spirit.

“Traci was a fighter, and she fought to the very end. And then, even when she was fighting during her transition, she was humorous. Of course, there were moments of, ‘Oh my gosh, I can’t believe this is actually happening.’ But the other side of it was, she was like, ‘Oh yeah, hell yeah!’”

The return to the spotlight has been both a challenge and a catharsis for the Braxton sisters.

The break from filming allowed them to grow individually and set new boundaries in their lives.

“During that time, we grew and developed even more so into the women we were becoming. For those 12 years, while we were filming, we were living our lives out loud, you know, for all the world to see.”

“But that breath we took helped us set boundaries as grown women, sisters, and daughters,” Towanda reflected.

One of the most poignant moments in the interview came when Trina shared her thoughts on their time away from the cameras.

“I’m glad the cameras weren’t rolling when I saw my sister take her last breath,” she admitted, underscoring the deeply personal impact of their family’s loss.

As they gear up for the new season, both sisters have embraced the power of “no” and the strength it brings.

“We have boundaries. We never had boundaries before. There were boundaries, but there were blurred lines of those boundaries, and now I think we’re standing firm on how we feel. And you know, our no means no, and that’s just it. We no longer explain our reasoning, even if it’s how come. Because I said no,” Towanda stated firmly.

“The Braxtons” new season airs August 9 and streams on ALLBLK the following day.
