Can A White Man Be A DEI Hire (for VP)? – The Journal of Steffanie Rivers | WATCH

*If the presidential nominee is a biracial woman who wants to make mainstream white America feel comfortable about voting for her as the next POTUS, she had to choose a white man as her vice-presidential running mate. That makes Minnesota Governor Tim Walz a DEI hire for Kamala Harris

Anyone who understands the purpose of ‘diversity, equity, and inclusion’ should understand that analogy. The trouble is some people use the term to imply that a DEI hire is not qualified to hold the position or is taking an opportunity away from some qualified professional. That’s not true.

As an Asian Indian and Jamaican woman from liberal California and an HBCU graduate, Harris already appeals to women. She already appeals to Black people. She already appeals to Asians. But she needs White men to vote for her too. Being married to one probably has worked to her political advantage.

Still, can a presidential candidate be successful without a white man as a running mate? Click the video above for my take on it.

Seeing Governor Walz in the same light is  Charlamagne Tha God (real name: Lenard Larry McKelvey) who said over the weekend that Vice President Harris picked Walz to be her running mate because she needed a “DEI hire.”

McKelvey made the remarks during a Sunday interview with Jonathan Karl on ABC News’ “This Week” while talking about the state of the 2024 presidential election, reports Daily Caller.

“I just found out about him over the last couple of weeks,” he said. “At first, I was a little bit disappointed like I knew she — we knew she needed a DEI hire, right?”

“So Tim Walz is the DEI hire on this ticket?” Karl asked. “Diversity, equity, inclusion.”

“Absolutely,” McKelvey responded. “She needed a white male to make America comfortable. It is what it is. No need for us to, you know, act crazy about it. You know what it is.”
