Chance the Rapper is bringing back “Punk’d.”
The Grammy-winning rapper will take over as host of the groundbreaking prank show. The original MTV series, which was hosted by Ashton Kutcher from 2003-2007, will be reimagined for a new generation and will be available exclusively on Quibi’s mobile video platform.
Chance will also serve as director of the reboot, which promises “new laughs, new hoaxes, and new celebrity ‘marks’ in bite-sized episodes.” And as always, no one is safe. Hidden cameras will be placed to catch all the action.
“Punk’d is one of MTV’s most iconic franchises,” said Chance in a statement. “I grew up watching this show and it’s surreal to be in the driver’s seat this time around on Quibi.”
The trailer offers a first look at some of the wild pranks in store including a gorilla stunt with Megan Thee Stallion and another with a car explosion.
The series is set to premiere April 6. Quibi will feature original content made for mobile viewing with episodes delivered in 10 minutes or less. Offset and Keke Palmer are also set to debut programming on the platform.
