COVID-19 issues wipes out Howard-Delaware State matchup

The struggle to successfully navigate a spring football season for the MEAC has continued to become cumbersome.

As first reported by FCS Football, Saturday’s Howard-Delaware State game has been postponed due to coronavirus issues within the Bison program.

The news comes on the heels of Howard being forced to cancel its season series with South Carolina State due to pandemic-related travel restrictions in the District of Columbia.

Howard has only played one game this season, a 17-10 loss to Delaware State on Feb. 27.

Delaware State, which has played two games, is scheduled to meet Delaware State on April 10 and South Carolina State on April 17 to wrap up the regular season.

The conference announced in February that it was suspending the 2021 spring season after six of the league’s nine football-playing schools had opted out since October.
