Cynthia Erivo Wants To Inspire Black Women To Get In The Wild In ‘Running Wild With Bear Grylls: The Challenge’ Exclusive Clip

Cynthia Erivo is roughing it in the wild of the Brecon Beacons Mountains with Bear Grylls on the upcoming episode of Nat Geo‘s reality series Running Wild With Bear Grylls: The Challenge.

In this exclusive clip, Erivo said that she wanted to give Black girls and women encouragement to get out into the wild and experience the world in a different way.

“I rarely see young Black women out in the wild, trying new things,” she said. “I wanted to encourage us to get out and do and be a part of the world this way.”

Grylls responded, “The wild never judges.” Erivo added that if she gets to live to be 90 years old, she’ll be happy to look back on this experience to say she did it instead of having regrets about what could have been.

Here’s more you can expect from the episode according to the official description:

Bear Grylls takes singer-actress Cynthia Erivo to the highest mountains in Wales, where Bear trained in the British Special Forces. Bear teaches Cynthia how to rappel into and navigate a labyrinth of caves before they traverse a frigid and thunderous waterfall. On day two, Cynthia uses the skills she learned on day one to embark on her own, find Bear, and make it to their extraction.

Erivo’s episode airs July 23 at 9/8c on National Geographic.
