Deion Sanders provides guidance to JSU football team amid Takeoff death

Amid the death of rapper Takeoff, Deion Sanders took the time to address it and issue a directive to Jackson State football players ahead of the team’s trip to Houston.

Takeoff, 28, of the rap group, Migos, was fatally shot following an argument during an apparent dice game outside a Houston bowling alley.

In the wake of the shooting, Sanders told his group that they would not be allowed to venture outside the team hotel before its game against Texas Southern on Saturday.

“That eliminates all y’all leaving the hotel. Because it ain’t happening until I give you further notice,” Sanders said in a video posted by Thee Pregame Show. “Whatever her name is, whoever she is, parents –everybody. They gonna come to the hotel to visit you because y’all ain’t leaving.”

Sanders also used the incident as a lesson to the team.

“There is no way a young man has reached the pinnacle of the rap game, well known all over the world, is still playing dice in the inner city that who so ever will who is already jealous and envious of you,” he said.  “Sooner or later, we have to start changing our addresses, guys. This is an analogy saying I know we’re this, but we ain’t that. We gotta leave that behind that we once did.”
