DMX Brain Function Remains Unchanged, Family Faces Tough Decision

Nearly one week after suffering a drug overdose, DMX’s condition remains the same.

On Wednesday, doctors performed a battery of tests on the 50-year-old rapper, who sadly showed no signs of improvement in brain activity. X was rushed to the hospital after suffering a heart attack triggered by an overdose last Friday. He was deprived of oxygen for nearly half an hour, which severely impacted his brain.

X is currently in a coma and the test results are “not good,” sources tell TMZ. His family may soon be faced with the difficult decision of whether to withdraw life support. X’s family has rushed to his side, while his longtime friend and manager, Steve Rifkind, is flying to New York on Friday.

It’s unclear when X’s family will decide what to do next. According to Rifkind, the brain function tests were critical and once the results were in “the family would determine what’s best from there.”

Earlier this week, a prayer vigil was held outside White Plains Hospital in New York where X is in the ICU. His mother, fiancée, and kids have visited him at the hospital, while his peers including Eminem, LL Cool J, and Swizz Beatz have shared well wishes on social media.
