‘Dune: Part Two’ Moves To 2024 Due To Strikes, ‘The Color Purple’ ‘Wonka,’ And ‘Aquaman 2’ Remain In 2023 For Now

Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment have changed when Dune fans will finally see the second part of the Dune saga.

Deadline reports that the two companies have decided to move Dune: Part Two to a theatrical and IMAX March 15, 2024 release date. The move comes, of course, because of the effects the SAG-AFTRA strike is having on Hollywood.

The change in schedule now pushes Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire to April 12, 2024, and the animated film Lord of the Rings: The War of Rohirrim, will now release to theaters Dec. 13, 2024.

However, Warner Bros. isn’t making any further changes to their release schedule. Wonka is still set to be released to theaters Dec. 15 and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will come to theaters Dec. 20. The Color Purple, starring Fantasia Barrino, H.E.R., Danielle Brooks Taraji P. Henson and Halle Bailey, is also still set to come to theaters Dec. 25.

The Dune franchise stars Timothée Chalamet (who also stars in Wonka) and Zendaya in the film adaptation of Frank Herbert’s novels about a high-fantasy saga involving Paul Atreides (Chalamet) and his destiny to save his family amid varying intergalactic power struggles.
