In preparation for their return to the hardwood after the CIAA opted out of the 2020-2021 basketball season, the Elizabeth City State Vikings have released their 2021-2022 women’s and men’s basketball schedules respectively.
This includes 25 games (17 in conference) for the women and 30 games (16 in conference) for the men.
The women’s schedule kicks off with a pair of games against SIAC opponents Albany State on November 12 and Clark Atlanta the next day.
On November 16, the Lady Vikings play their first home game against the Chowan Hawks. Their first conference game comes on November 27 when they play the reigning CIAA champion Fayetteville State Broncos in the 252 Down East Classic in Rocky Mount, North Carolina.

The men begin play on November 1 when they play the North Carolina State Wolfpack on the road. They then travel to Chapel Hill to face ACC powerhouse North Carolina Tar Heels on November 5.
They play their first home game of the season on November 17 when they play the University of Charleston.
They then open up their conference schedule on December 16 when they play the Claflin Panthers in what will be the first men’s and women’s home doubleheader.
This will be the first of a three-game home doubleheader stretch for each team prior to Christmas break that will also feature games against the St. Augustine’s Falcons on December 18 and the Fayetteville State Broncos on December 20.

Following Christmas break, the women return to the floor January 3 playing the Livingstone Blue Bears. Of their final 14 games, 13 will be in conference with six being played on their home floor.
In contrast, the men will have a much more layered schedule coming back from Christmas break. They will play 17 games including 13 conference games and eight home games.
Their first game back will be on New Year’s Eve against the Fisk Bulldogs followed by a New Year’s Day matchup against Bloomfield College.
They return to conference play on January 6 against the Livingstone Blue Bears on the road. Each team’s final game will be on February 19 in a home doubleheader against the Bowie State Bulldogs.
The Lady Vikings will be looking to win their first CIAA championship in school history while the men will be looking for their first since 2007.
