*R&B singer Eric Benét recently shared a humorous story involving Joe Jackson, Michael Jackson’s father, from an awards show many years ago.

In a TikTok video, Benét explained that he was thrilled to be seated in front of the legendary figure. However, his excitement turned to confusion as he listened to Jackson repeatedly mispronouncing the name of his ex-wife, Halle Berry.

“The first thing I thought was, it’s pronounced ‘Halle’ not Holly,’” said Benét. “Next thing I thought was what the actual F is happening right now?”

The singer continued, “Does he think he’s being witty? Is he trying to introduce himself to me? Is that the ice breaker? Is he bonding with me on some suspected Hollywood villain-type sh*t?”

Benét nervously laughed off the weird situation.

“Two minutes later, I feel that heat on the back of my neck and smell that old man cologne,” Benét added. “So now I realize he’s testing you. Is Eric Benet a punk? Can I do this to him all night and he won’t do nothing?”

Benét pondered whether or not he would fight the father of the King of Pop.

“Am I about to get into an altercation with the man who whooped little Michael Jackson’s ass? Is that what’s about to happen right here on this awards show?” he said.

Eventually, Benét politely asked Joe to stop.
