*I had an opportunity to drive the 2024 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid Limited and the 2024 Hyundai Elantra N. Though they’re in the same family, the vehicles offer two very different experiences and will most certainly fulfill the needs of different drivers. Overall, my favorite drive of the two is the N, but the most economical choice is most certainly the Hybrid. Let’s get into it.
The Look
The curvature of the hood and muscular design of the doors, create a unique look for the vehicle for both the hybrid and N models.
They both also sport a seamless dash with touchscreen navigation. Wireless devices can connect via Bluetooth, however projected phone displays are only available via USB ports.
Plus the sound systems are great in both vehicles, giving drivers a fully immersive experience. One interesting design element in the interior includes this barrier or handle between the center console and the passenger.
I’m not exactly sure what this design element is for, but it makes a good barrier for curious passengers, keeping them in their own space. Now, let’s look at the differences.
Hybrid
The hybrid offers a leather seat interior with a racecar vibe but without the extra tight hold of the N.
Other than that, the interior is simple and unremarkable. The interior paneling is also quite hard and generic.
However, the exterior’s modern design and angular finish are noteworthy, adding to the appealing aesthetic of the vehicle.
N
Immediately a head-turner, the N breaks up the monochrome look of the vehicle with its red accents and trim along the bottom edge of the entire vehicle. I experienced so many compliments on the road, thumbs up, “Girl that car looks good on you” and more.
The red accents compliment the LED light trim along the rear of the vehicle too. The fin on the N also adds to its fun appeal, distinguishing it from its sister vehicle in the fleet.
The interior I found to be significantly different from the hybrid. The front seats bring out the fun with the racecar feel with a tighter grip on those thighs.
But the soft faux suede material adds to a more comfortable ride. I love the N accent on the headrests too. The wheel includes a turbo power boost – N Grin Shift.
The Drive
Hybrid
Smooth drive, but lacks the power punch. An enjoyable pleasant ride, nonetheless the hybrid gives drivers a good experience, offering three driving modes: Normal, Sport & Smart.
N
Now this car might get you into some trouble. It’s fast and fun, and hugs curves like a spandex pencil skirt on a thick chick’s thighs. It’s not the best experience in the city, as you’ll feel every dip, pothole, or unpaved road. But it’s on the highway that the N gets to perform at its best. It’s not only fast, but fun. With the N 8-speed Wet Dual Clutch Transmission (also available in a traditional manual transmission), changing speeds with the paddle shifters and using the N turbo mode. Part of the drive experience I found to be fun was adjusting the exhaust tone and volume through the dual exhaust outlets. Starting up that engine certainly got me excited every single time.
Overall, depending on your preferences, each one provides a different experience. The Elantra hybrid will give you great driving economy while the N will give you thrills.
