Florida A&M’s 2-0 start earned them a measure of respect in Tuesday’s American Football Coaches Association FCS poll.
The Rattlers, who overcame an 11-point fourth-quarter deficit to defeat South Carolina State 22-18 Saturday night, were ranked 24th in the AFCA’s Week 1 poll after being ranked 25th in the preseason poll.

The Rattlers received 82 votes, the 24th most among FCS teams. Other HBCUs received votes as well; North Carolina Central earned 33 votes, Delaware State collected 14 votes, and Tennessee State earned two. Alabama A&M and North Carolina A&T received one vote each.
The Rattlers will face another ranked team this weekend when they travel to Miami to face the Hurricanes, who are ranked 12th in FBS.
