Florida A&M SWAC East opener postponed due to approaching hurricane

Saturday was set to be Florida A&M’s SWAC East opener at Bragg Memorial Stadium against Alabama A&M, but with Hurricane Helene bearing down on the region, a change of plans was in order.

Tuesday morning, the university announced the game would be moved to Friday Nov. 29.

“Our top priority is the safety and well-being of our student-athletes, coaches, and staff,” FAMU acting athletic director Michael Smith said in a statement released by the university. “Given the uncertainty surrounding Hurricane Helene, we feel it is in everyone’s best interest to reschedule the game.”

Ticket and game information will be disclosed by the university at a later date, the school said. The Rattlers are 2-2 and have yet to play a conference game, as does Alabama A&M.
