Former 3-star ACC running back joins North Carolina A&T backfield

As North Carolina A&Tโ€™s football team prepares for their first season in the Colonial Athletic Association, they are stocking the roster with talent and late Wednesday night, they added some depth to their running back core.

Kenji Christian of Pinson, Alabama, announced his commitment to the Aggies via his social media accounts. Christian, a 6-foot-2, 207-pound redshirt freshman, was previously enrolled at Virginia Tech before transferring to A&T.

Christian was ranked as the nationโ€™s 36th overall best running back and 22nd overall in Alabamaโ€™s 2021 rankings, as well as earning a three-star ranking from 247Sports.com. He rushed for 451 yards on 63 carries (7.2 yards per rush) as a junior and helped Pinson Valley High School the class 6A state championship his senior year.

Christian redshirted his first year at Virginia Tech before deciding to join the Aggies, who finished 2022 at 7-4 overall and 4-1 in their final Big South season before moving to the CAA for 2023.

There is room for competition at North Carolina A&T as 1,000-yard rusher Bhayshul Tuten ironically transferred to Virginia Tech this past winter.

Redshirt sophomore Wesley Graves is the Aggiesโ€™ leading returning rusher, collecting 320 yards on 68 carries and four touchdowns in 2022. Christianโ€™s commitment now brings the A&T running back total to five, with three sophomores and two freshmen among the group.
