Former Jackson State center Jayveous McKinnis has announced he will be transferring to Ole Miss.

McKinnis announced on March 23 that he would be transferring from Jackson State as a grad transfer.

Before committing to Ole Miss on Monday, the big man was reported to have received offers from Wichita State, Kansas State, San Francisco and UNC Wilmington among others.

He led the SWAC in rebounding in each of his last three seasons while leading in blocks all four years.

In the 2020-2021 season, McKinnis ranked second in the country in rebounds per game (13.2) and was third in total blocks (34). Meanwhile, this past season, he was 10th in blocks per game (2.9).

The Jackson State big racked up a ton of awards in his time with the team including three SWAC Defensive Player of the Year awards and three All-SWAC teams honors.

McKinnis will look to make a big impact on an Ole Miss team that ranked outside the top 150 teams in the country in points allowed and outside the top 250 in rebounding.
