Former Benedict quarterback Eric Phoenix transfers to the FCS

Eric Phoenix, the former quarterback of SIAC champion Benedict, is on his way to the FCS.

Phoenix is now in the Missouri Valley Conference at Murray State.

Phoenix helped lead Benedict to a historic season in which Tigers went undefeated won its first SIAC championship, and earned a Division II playoff berth.

He finished the year with 2,051 passing yards, completing 64% of his passes and throwing 15 touchdowns. Phoenix also added four rushing touchdowns. He was named to the All-SIAC Second Team for the second straight year.

The former Tiger had his best performance of the season in the SIAC championship game, recording 313 passing yards completing 19-of-29 pass attempts and throwing two touchdowns. He also added 91 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Before committing to Murray State, Phoenix received offers from Norfolk State, Wingate, Carson-Newman, and West Virginia Wesleyan.
