Former Grambling standout Shakyla Hill signs basketball contract to play in Serbia

Former Grambling State basketball standout Shakyla Hill is officially a professional basketball player.

On Thursday, Hill signed a one-year overseas deal to play in Serbia with ZKK Kraljevo.

First off, thank God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Officially signed my first contract today, and decided to go back and do it at the place that gave me a chance to showcase my talents.. One of my biggest goals is to inspire more student athletes to attend HBCU’s and also to remove the stigma that you can’t reach your goals if you attend one. MY HBCU gave me a platform, an opportunity, and a home away from home!!! “Officially signed my first contract today, and decided to go back and do it at the place that gave me a chance to showcase my talents,” Hill said in an Instagram post. “One of my biggest goals is to inspire more student-athletes to attend HBCU’s and also to remove the stigma that you can’t reach your goals if you attend one.”

During her senior season at GSU, Hill led the Southwestern Athletic Conference in points (18.7), assists (6.0) and steals per game (4.5). The Little Rock, Arkansas native also set a conference record in steals. Most notably, Hill became the first player in NCAA history – man or woman – to record two quadruple-doubles in a college career.

Hill will be leaving for Serbia on Monday.
