*Amid the swirling controversy following Sean “Diddy” Combs’ recent arrest, a memoir allegedly penned by the late Kim Porter has made headlines and landed at the top of Amazon’s bestsellers list.

Titled “Kim’s Lost Words: A Journey for Justice from the Other Side…,” this unauthorized account, published by producer Chris Todd under the pseudonym “Jamal T. Millwood,” offers a purported glimpse into Porter’s lived experiences through a series of diary entries saved on a flash drive before her untimely passing in 2018.

Released on September 6, just days before Combs was indicted on serious sex trafficking and racketeering charges, the memoir is stirring significant interest. According to reports from the Daily Mail, Chris Todd claims that the details contained within the book were provided to friends by Porter herself, implying a promise to reveal her truth posthumously.

Reportedly, the 60-page book includes alarming allegations of physical abuse, among others, which Todd has yet to substantiate with evidence.

“I was lucky enough to meet someone that purported to have Kim Porter’s flash drive,” he told the media outlet. “I know the celebrity source pretty well. I know how close they were to Kim and Diddy, and all the people in the hip-hop community. This was supposedly for Kim Porter from the grave, to come forward and tell her story.”

About his book on Kim Porter, Chris Todd also said: “This is a dangerous situation, and I didn’t want to claim ownership of Kim’s words. But now I’m willing to come forward because of the recent arrest of Sean Combs. Now [that] the federal government has finally acted, I feel safer to come forward.”

His assertions raise questions about the authenticity and veracity of the memoir, leading to critiques surrounding the handling of Porter’s narrative.

The timing of the book’s release raises eyebrows, coinciding closely with Combs’ legal woes. Authorities recently arrested him in New York City, issuing a lengthy indictment that described a pattern of abusive behavior towards women over decades.  Combs, 54, maintains his innocence, pledging to fight the charges against him.

“Mr. Combs is strong, healthy, and focused on his defense. He is committed to fighting this case and has full confidence in both his legal team and the truth,” Combs’ spokesperson noted to Billboard

His current incarceration at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn is coupled with additional scrutiny and procedural measures such as suicide watch, typically reserved for high-profile inmates.

Porter, a beloved figure, was not only the mother of three children with Combs but also had an elder son, Quincy, from her previous relationship with R&B singer Al B. Sure. Her death at the age of 47 due to pneumonia left a profound impact on her family and the entertainment industry at large. The resurfacing of her story through Todd’s book aims to shed light on her life and struggles, although the legitimacy of its claims remains in question.

As the legal proceedings against Combs unfold, the allure of Kim Porter’s lost words continues to generate buzz, prompting discussions on the ethics of posthumous storytelling in the celebrity realm.
